Emergency call-out at gas depot

by isleofman.com 19th November 2012

A fractured pipe was the reason for the emergency turnout on Battery Pier in Douglas this morning (Monday).

The break triggered a high powered automatic sprinkler system at the Manx Gas depot on South Quay in Douglas.

The sprinkler came on exactly as it was designed to do in the event of a fall in water pressure through the pipes.

Station officer John Bellis said there was never a threat to public safety.
