On Friday 23 November, Lloyds Banking Group colleagues will ‘take over’ the Isle of Man’s Save the Children charity shops for the day in a bid to raise as much money as possible for the charity.
 
On the day, the Isle of Man team will sort and sell stock with the aim to increase the income the shop made on the same date last year. In addition, for the two weeks leading up to the event, colleagues will be collecting interesting and high value stock and taking it to their nearest Save the Children store.
 
In total over 500 Lloyds Banking Group colleagues will take over 100 of the Save the Children charity shops across the UK with the aim of raising over £30,000 to support UK communities as part of the Group’s commitment to helping Britain prosper.
 
Save the Children is Lloyds Banking Group’s chosen Charity of the Year until the end of December 2012. The partnership has funded Save the Children’s Families and Schools Together (FAST) programmes in some of the UK's most disadvantaged communities.
 
Lucy Felton, Community Ambassador at Lloyds TSB Isle of Man, commented on the initiative: “Becoming the best bank for our customers means being the best bank for our communities.  We believe this can best be achieved not purely through raising awareness of organisations such as Save the Children, but by taking an active role in the fantastic work that they do.  It’s vital to the ongoing success of the such organisations locally that charity becomes part of the culture of the Island’s employees and residents and it’s initiatives such as these that serve to instill this sentiment in the longer term. I am very much looking forward to our ‘take-over’ and would like to congratulate all of my colleagues here at Lloyds for their energy and dedication to making this happen.”
 
Sue Guest, who operates the Ramsey Shop and is a Retail Volunteer Group Representative for Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man, also commented: “We’re absolutely thrilled with the response from the team at Lloyds TSB. Their energy and enthusiasm has already had a significant impact on the charity locally and I’m sure the same is true further afield. A joint initiative such as this is a brilliant idea and really brings to the forefront the benefits of working together to increase the exposure of Save the Children whilst highlighting the community spirit of all charity here on the Isle of Man and the UK.
