Scope report author presses for faster change

One of the authors of the scope of governement report says it's uncertain whether the current governemnt will make the radical changes needed to slim down its operation.

Robert Quayle chaired a group which this year updated its far-reaching 2006 report on the scope and structure of the Manx government.

It said more still has to be done to reduce the range and cost of services provided to the public.

Speaking on Manx Radio's Sunday Opinion programme, Mr Quayle said there has been limited progress in doing away with so-called 'silo' thinking by ministers and departments.

But he says the process of change must go on and opposition to it dealt with:
