Foxdale are the western wonders

by isleofman.com 17th November 2012

A blistering first half from Foxdale ended Michael’s unbeaten start in JCK Division Two.

Goals from Willie Woods, Craig Gelling (two) and Liam Cannon fired them into a 4-1 half-time lead at Billy Goat Park.

Although Michael pulled one back after the break through Antony Corkill – Peter Fisher scored their other goal – Foxdale were 4-2 winners in the western derby.

That result allowed Colby to move level at the top as they hit Pulrose for six at Groves Road.

A Sam Renshaw treble, plus goals from James Collett and Adam Fretwell (two) ensured they ran out 6-2 winners.

Aaron Raby and Ben Cowin netted the Pulrose goals in the second half.

Ramsey Youth Centre also closed the gap to move within two points of the leaders.

After a goallless first half, they turned on the style to win 3-0 at Braddan, thanks to goals from Chris Robinson, Morton and Kinrade.

Ayre United produced the comeback of the day to draw at Douglas Royal.

Royal looked to have sealed the points by racing into a 3-0 interval lead, courtesy of Paul Whitley (two) and Greg Hoskisson goals.

However, a Jason Craine double and a Paul Kennish goal sealed a fine point as the Tangerines stay fourth ahead of Royal.

Malew remain bottom after losing 4-2 at Douglas and District.

D& D trailed 2-1 at the break but took maximum points with goals from Craig Cowin (two), Robbie Haye and Jamie Spicer.

John Mitchell and Jamie Heeney grabbed the goals as Ronaldsway gave themselves some daylight from the bottom with a 2-1 win at Douglas Athletic, who finished the match with eight men.

Heeney was a contender for goal of the day with a dribble he started in his own half.

There was also a contender in Combination One where 16 year-old Kian Geoghegan scored from 35 yards as St Mary’s beat Marown 8-1 at the Bowl.
