App for Ash

by isleofman.com 17th November 2012

As the Island is closely checked for any possible signs of Ash dieback, technology is lending a helping hand.

The devastating fungal disease of the trees has already been found in more than 150 sites in the UK including in Yorkshire and Ireland.

On the Island up to 25% of the Island's hedgerow trees are Ash, and whilst no signs of the disease have been discovered yet members of the public are being asked to be vigilant and report anything suspicious.

Northern Area Forestry Manager Jason Bolt from DEFA says there's now an app for your smartphone which can help.
