Revitalising village is new commissioner's target

The new member of Port Erin's Board of Commissioners says involving local residents in decisions about the future of the village will be her priority.

Retired businesswoman Barbara Guy won yesterday's by election for a vacant seat on the board.

She polled 399 votes comfortably ahead of her opponent Jolinda De Beer, on a turnout of 24.7 per cent.

Mrs Guy is making her first foray into local politics and says she's motived by the opportunity to help shape Port Erin's future:
