The Ultimate Driving Experience on the Manx Electric Railway and now… the Steam Railway

by isleofman.com 15th November 2012

Due to its continued success the Department of Community, Culture and Leisure, which operates Heritage Railways, will be running ‘The Ultimate Driving Experience’ for a fourth year throughout the 2013 season.

This gives members of the public a chance to experience driving one of our historic Electric Trams.  Each event will be run over one day and will include safety briefings, history and theory and a chance to drive one of our trams between Laxey and Ramsey.

Also due to the success on the MER, ‘The Ultimate Driving Experience’ will be extended to include the Steam Railway throughout the 2013 season.

This will give members of the public a chance to experience driving one of our historic steam trains. Each event will be run over one day and will include safety briefings, history and theory and a chance to drive one of our trains between Castletown and Port Erin.

As there are limited dates available bookings for both ‘Ultimate Driving Experiences’ will be made on a first come first served basis via Miss Marieanne Bridges, Marieanne.bridges@gov.im or 01624 697419.
