TT star Luis Carreira has died after a crash in qualifying at the Macau Grand Prix.

The opening session was red-flagged after 10 minutes and subsequently abandoned after the incident at Fisherman's Bend - no other competitor was involved.

The Portuguese rider was taken to hospital by helicopter but succumbed to his injuries shortly afterwards.

The 35 year old made his debut at the TT in 2009.

His best result was 13th in the 2011 Superstock Race.
