Wait to recoup investment in Manx backed films

New figures show that none of the films recently made in the Isle of Man have yet turned in a profit.

The finding was revealed in the answer to a question tabled in the House of Keys this week.

Treasury figures show that investment in films like Me and Orson Welles, TT3D and the academy short-listed Chico and Rita have not recouped the investment put into them.

But Steve Christian of the Island's film industry says a table outlining investment and returns to date, does not tell the whole story.

He says returns on films must be seen over the long term and a recent assessment shows the industry as a whole is an asset to the Manx economy:
