If so, come along to the forthcoming Employment & Skills 2012 event at the Villa Marina, Douglas, on Thursday 22nd November.
Employment & Skills 2012 is the largest annual gathering of employers held in the Isle of Man and is jointly hosted by the Departments of Economic Development and Education and Children. It is a great opportunity for those who are seeking work to explore a variety of options and develop a long-term rewarding future in a career of their choice.
The exhibition will be open from 9am to 7pm and representatives from a wide range of business sectors, including retail, finance, media, transport and professional services, will be under one roof to offer advice and information to individuals all day. New exhibitors include Heron and Brearley Limited, Autism Initiatives, the Department of Economic Development’s Small Business Start Up scheme and Dandara Group.
Services on offer during the day will include help with CV writing, interview skills and job search techniques. There will also be the opportunity to talk to organisations that provide training and in addition presentations on careers in engineering and information and communications technology (ICT) will take place throughout the day in the Broadway Cinema.
This year a special guest will be attending the event, John Loughton. John is a high-profile and experienced youth leader, social entrepreneur, campaigner and public affairs professional who rose to prominence when he won the 2008 Big Brother Celebrity Hijack reality TV programme. He will be involved in a number of ways during the day.
Wendy Campbell from Image Matters will be present in the Florrie Forde Bar to give advice on how people should present themselves for an interview and Angelena Boden, ‘The Fifteen Minute Trainer’, will be on hand to give advice on careers in the Noble Suite.
