FT supplement will showcase Isle of Man economy

by isleofman.com 9th November 2012

The Isle of Man economy will be featured next week in a special supplement by the Financial Times.

A four-page ‘Doing Business in the Isle of Man’ pull-out will be included in Thursday’s (November 15, 2012) edition of the FT.

The supplement will showcase the strength and diversity of the Island’s business community and highlight a number of sectors that have contributed to 28 years of unbroken economic growth.

Articles have been contributed by FT staff journalists Brian Groom and Andrew Bounds who recently visited the Isle of Man to conduct a series of interviews with Government Ministers and key business contacts.

The production of this year’s supplement continues the long-standing relationship between the Isle of Man Government and FT and supports the ongoing drive to raise the Island’s global profile.

It also builds on the programme of proactive political and business engagement aimed at promoting the Island’s reputation at a time of continued economic uncertainty and international scrutiny.

Chief Minister Allan Bell MHK said: ‘Driving forward the Island’s economic development is one of my main priorities and the FT supplement helps to deliver our core messages to a target audience of decision-makers, business leaders and high net worth individuals. This initiative also provides further evidence of Government’s commitment to the private sector by promoting the Isle of Man as a leading international business centre through a respected global brand. We will follow up on the interest generated by the Doing Business in the Isle of Man publication to create new inward investment opportunities and business leads.’

The collaboration with the FT will enable the Island to reach the FT’s global audience of 2.2 million daily readers and 17 million monthly website visitors.

Also on November 15, the future of business in the Isle of Man will be the topic of a live webcast.

Local entrepreneur Courtenay Heading, founding director of clean-tech company Bladon Jets and an Inward Investment Adviser to the Isle of Man Government, will be joined by Chris Cummings, Chief Executive of TheCityUK.

The online event will be hosted by BBC presenter Roger Hearing and people can join the debate by visiting http://www.whereyoucan.im/Resources/Doing-Business-in-the-Isle-of-Man-webcast.aspx from 9am on Thursday and submitting their questions to the expert panel.
