Beach clean this Sunday in Ramsey

by isleofman.com 9th November 2012

The next Big Team Beach Clean organised by Beach Buddies takes place this coming Sunday at 2pm on Ramsey North Promenade.

All Beach Buddies volunteers who can spare a maximum of one hour of their time are welcome to join in.

Beach Buddies will also be joined by a team from 2nd Ramsey Guides who are the first group on the Island to officially "adopt" a section of beach. This will be their second cleaning session on the beach at North Ramsey.

We meet at the slip opposite the new swimming pool. Beach Buddies will provide litterpickers and bin bags and arrange disposal / recycling of the rubbish. We also have gloves, but not many small ones, so it may be best to bring your own. Lots of adults sizes. Good footwear such as walking boots recommended.

The weather forecast looks OK. Even if there are showers we will still go ahead. Only two sessions have been called off in the last six years - when it was horizontal storm force winds and absolutely lashing down with rain. And on one occasion a team from Castle Rushen High School still went out in such conditions - and did a great job!

So, it will be going ahead. New volunteers are also welcome and can register by email for regular updates:  beachbuddies@manx.net.

The next Beach Buddies Big Team Beach Clean is the following Sunday, November 18th, at 10.30am on Douglas Promenade. Details to follow.
