Planning advice leaflets published

by isleofman.com 7th November 2012

The Department of Infrastructure has published a series of advice and information leaflets to help homeowners, developers and contractors understand more about the planning process.

The eight leaflets are available to download from the Department’s website at http://www.gov.im/transport/planning/ and are also available from the Planning & Building Control Division offices in Murray House Reception, Mount Havelock, Douglas, IM1 2SF.  They are also available via post on request.

Howard Quayle, Department Member with Responsibility for Planning and Building Control, explained: ‘The number of issues involved with Planning and Building Control, and the wide range of areas that our Division covers, can make it daunting for some people, particularly those who are perhaps going through the planning process for the first time.’

The topics covered by the leaflets are:

•         Inspection of building work
•         Commenting on planning applications
•         Choosing a builder
•         Working from home
•         Consideration of neighbours
•         Lawful Development Certificate
•         About the Planning system
•         Material Planning considerations

Mr Quayle said: ‘Our intention with these leaflets is to provide relevant information in an accessible format. If we can help members of the public, and indeed those businesses and organisations involved with the Planning process, to be more aware of the issues involved, it should create a quicker, smoother system for everyone.’

Anyone who would like to receive a copy of one or more of the leaflets by post should contact Sarah Kennaugh on 01624 685919.
