Obama's victory may not be good news for Island

The return of Barack Obama to the Whitehouse may not be good news for the Isle of Man.

That's the belief of Professor of US History and Principal of the Isle of Man College, Ronald Barr.

Speaking after Mr Obama's victory in the US election this morning, Professor Barr says he believes the President is likely to be more critical of jurisdictions such as the Isle of Man than a Republican administration, which would have been committed to free trade and low tax economies.

However, Mr Barr says other issues are likely to dominate as Mr Obama starts his second term of office . .
