MHK calls for proactive approach to CCTV

by isleofman.com 7th November 2012

The Department of Home Affairs needs to be more proactive about the use of CCTV.

That's according to North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson who questioned the Home Affairs Minister about plans to extend its use on the Island in the House of Keys this week.

Mr Henderson suggested its use could be particularly helpful in protecting the public from the likes of car vandalism.

But Juan Watterson said decisions about CCTV should be made by local authorities, and he also said there was little economic sense in putting cameras up for the sake of one incident.

But Mr Henderson disagrees.
