The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service dealt with a small number of incidents throughout the night, these ranged from nuisance bonfires where appropriate advice was given and on one occasion the fire had to be extinguished. They also responded to the report of a house fire, that turned out to be a firework lodged in guttering, fortunately the firework went out before any serious damage was done.
Overall the Fire and Rescue Service along with the Isle of Man Constabulary and the Office of Fair Trading are pleased with the response to its safety campaign and wishes to thank the islands public for enjoying the festivities whilst understanding the dangers associated with Bonfires and Fireworks.
