Warning after early hours Peel fire

by isleofman.com 4th November 2012

Firefighters are reminding people to make sure their smoke alarms work after a fire in Peel.

The incident happened in Reayrt Ny Cronk shortly after 12.30am on Saturday when the occupier woke up to find their house full of smoke.

A police officer turned off the cooker and put the fire out. Fire crews spent an hour ventilating the property and making it safe.

The householder was treated for smoke inhalation but didn’t need hospital treatment.

Fire crews say they had a lucky escape because some of the smoke alarms hadn’t been maintained - and one had its batteries removed.
