by isleofman.com 1st November 2012

Douglas Borough Council is inviting people to take part in its annual Remembrance Sunday service this year.

The event on Sunday, November 11, starts with a parade from Market Hill at 9.30am, passing through Duke Street, Strand Street, Castle Street and Marina Road before arriving at St Thomas’ Church.

The service will begin at 10am, conducted by the Vicar of St Thomas’, Reverend Ian Brady and an address from Archdeacon of the Isle of Man Venerable Andrew Brown.

There’ll then be the two minutes’ silence at 11am and a laying of wreaths at the war memorial on the promenade.

Councillors say the lower end of Finch Road, Church Road Marina and Harris Promenade will be closed between 9.30am and 12 noon.
