Premier launch new fund to invest in the fastest growing land plant in the world

by isleofman.com 31st October 2012

The Premier Group (Isle of Man) Limited (“Premier”) have launched The Eco Resources Fund PCC plc (the “Fund”) a new fund for qualifying investors looking to add diversity into their investment portfolios by investing into bamboo plantations operated by EcoPlanet Bamboo, a leading bamboo plantation developer.

Bamboo is widely regarded as the perfect substitute for tropical hardwood, using the three principal technologies of lamination, strand weaving and bamboo plastic composite. It can be used to do anything traditional timber can but to a higher mechanical standard and importantly with a lower environmental footprint.

As Tony Parry, Director at Premier says “Using current technologies, bamboo timber can be produced to be harder, stronger and more durable than tropical hardwood”, a view supported in an FT article earlier this year which stated that “Bamboo, eco-friendly and strong as steel, is used to build everything from homes to bridges and schools.”

Parry continues, “By launching this fund we are providing an opportunity for investors to benefit from the profitable development of sustainable resources in a socially responsible manner. In the long term we are aiming to provide investors with double digit returns whilst at the same time helping to reduce reliance on timber stripped from vitally important tropical rain forests”.

Premier aim to list the Fund on the Channel Islands Stock Exchange and make it available via SIPP & Offshore Bond providers, as well as direct investors throughout the world. The Fund is administered by IFG Fund Administration (IOM) Limited who are highly regarded and are licensed by the Isle of Man Financial Supervision Commission.
