Election won't change FATCA laws

The chief minister believes major changes to US tax regulations, which the Crown Dependencies must comply with, will come in regardless of who is elected to the White House.

Incumbent Barack Obama and his Republican challenger Mitt Romney go head-to-head in just eight days' time.

FATCA - which requires banks to disclose and declare the interests of US individuals and companies in foreign banks - is due to be introduced in June next year.

Chief Minister Allan Bell says it seems that plan is unlikely to be affected to any great extent by the outcome of next Tuesday's US presidential election:
