New powers to tackle drinking

Police could soon have the power to prevent anti-social drinking behaviour anywhere on the Island.

The Licensing Amendment Bill had its second reading in the House of Keys last week.

Currently, officers can only target those causing problems in certain specified areas - outside of which they have no powers of arrest.

Ramsey MHK Leonard Singer says the new Bill ISN'T aimed at stopping people enjoying a drink outside . . .
