Island requires skilled and qualified workers

Demand from the aerospace and fossil fuel industries in particular are driving a need for the Island to expand its engineering and manufacturing sector.

Skilled, qualified workers are also required to replace those retiring over the coming years.

Adrian Harrison is the engineering sector skills champion within the Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce.

He says plans to at the very least treble the 12 apprenticeship schemes currently available annually are vital:
