Overseas aid campaign lobbies politicians

MHKs were lobbied outside the House of Keys as they arrived for yesterday's sitting.

The demonstration was by the Point One campaign, which wants to see the Isle of Man government commit to giving 0.1 percent of the gross national income to overseas aid.

The government made a commitment in 2004 to aim towards giving a figure of 0.7 % of GNI.

Currently we only give one-tenth of that.

Global Poverty Ambassador on the Island Kristina Crawford says whilst she appreciates the current state of the Island's finances, the figure isn't unrealistic
