The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners has held its annual conference in the Isle of Man.

The gathering of STEP at Mount Murray sponsored for the third time by law firm Appleby Isle of Man, attracted speakers from the London bar, London law practices, representatives from Island companies and the Manx government.

Among keynote speeches was one from Haibin Xue of law firm Zhong Lun on the use of Manx companies to create international structures for Chinese businesses and individuals.

There was also a presentation on how non-residents can plan inheritance tax on the Island from Andrew Thornhill QC, of Pump Court Tax Chambers.

John Rimmer from Appleby said the event was an excellent opportunity for the IsIand to demonstrate to practitioners its position as a leading jurisdiction for private client and trust business.
