The Children’s Centre is organising a competition in which school pupils are being be challenged to illustrate what friends mean to them. The winner of The Children’s Centre’s Friends Competition will see their artwork featured on the cover of the charity’s annual review publication. To enter the competition - which is being run during October - pupils are asked to create a piece of artwork that depicts what the word ‘friends’ means to them. They can draw, paint, or create a collage. Susie Cox, Community Fundraiser at The Children’s Centre, said:
“We have 10 schools taking part so far. The competition is aimed at primary school children and designed to get them thinking about friendship, and the importance of it. It’s a fitting competition for Anti-Bullying Month. In addition, the competition will highlight the support that The Children’s Centre receives from our ‘Friends’ scheme in which supporters pledge to make monthly donations to help fund our charitable projects that work with families, young people and children across the Island. As well as being used on the cover of our annual review, which is distributed to several thousand people, the winning artwork will feature on our ‘Become a Friend’ donation forms. The winner and their classmates will also receive a VIP Out2Play session!”
There are bronze, silver and gold options when becoming a ‘Friend’ of The Children’s Centre. The bronze option is to donate £1 a month, silver is £3 per month and gold £5 per month. If you give a minimum of £5 a month you are eligible to be entered in the ‘Friends of The Children’s Centre’ monthly draw where you could win a top prize of £100.
All those who sign up for the Friends scheme - whether bronze, silver or gold - will receive a certificate, newsletters, and invitations to The Children’s Centre’s events. You can make a larger monthly donation if you wish and for each £5 you donate each month you will receive one entry in to the monthly draw. If you do not wish to be included in the monthly draw you can simply tick the relevant box to 'opt out'.
