Two Manxmen who run their own business operating French ski chalets are preparing for their third winter season. Brothers Jonathan and James Ingram run My Mountain Chalets in the Rhone Alps with two chalets in one building located in the village of Samoëns which is within a one hour drive of Geneva. My Mountain Chalets operates Chalet Marvel and Chalet Marmotte which can both accommodate up to 12 visitors and are built in the style of traditional Savoyard farmhouses, matching the style of the surrounding farms in the village.
Jonathan said: “We had an epic season of snow-fall last year and we’re predicting great things for the coming winter season and can't wait to get under way and on the snow! Bookings are already looking good with a further increase of returning customers from last year.”
This year the brothers are being joined by their sister Jacquelyn for the ski season and collectively they aim to continue to deliver the most enjoyable, affordable and stress-free skiing holiday possible. Jonathan added: “Our traditional catered and self-catered chalets are set in a tranquil hamlet, with stunning views across the valley to the magnificent Mount Criou opposite. With a grand double-height living and dining area, the chalets are spacious yet cosy and have good ‘karma’ according to one previous guest! Whether you're a young family, just finding your ski-legs or a die-hard skier, you'll fall in love with this beautiful area which really does have something for everyone.”
My Mountain Chalets offers fully catered or self-catering options and during the summer James and Jonathan offer individual packages to suit groups of guests - eg week, weekends, or even overnight B&B for those on a walking holiday. They are also happy to discuss special group discounts and discounts of up to 50 per cent are available for some last minute bookings.
My Mountain Chalets also attracts visitors in the spring and summer as Samoëns and the surrounding countryside are perfect for a wide range of activity and adventure breaks. The stunning scenery attracts hikers, cyclists and climbers and there are also opportunities for white water rafting. For those who are less energetic the mountains also provide a great location for many artists and photographers wanting to capture the spectacular views. Samoëns is recognised as a ‘Ville Fleurie’ or ‘floral village’ and has been awarded the Coq
D’Or for being one of the most beautiful villages in France. Flowers in the summer and fairy lights in winter add to the beauty and charm of Samoëns and the surrounding area.
Jonathan and James both grew up in the Isle of Man and are former King William’s College pupils. They are experienced skiers and snowboarders and have spent much of the last 13 years working in European ski resorts and specialist ski stores in the UK. Jonathan is a qualified ski technician and James a qualified snowboard instructor. The brothers also make their own snowboards and ski wear under the ‘Tapped’ brand name.
The ski season in the Samoëns area usually runs from the beginning of December to the end of April. For more information about My Mountain Chalets go to www.mymountainchalets.com
