Groups says energy science should override politics

by isleofman.com 15th October 2012

A Manx lobby group set-up to examine renewable energy options says science must dominate politics in the debate about what's best for the Isle of Man.

Three Island engineers formed the Green Power Manx Group two years ago and have just published a 10-point policy statement.

It argues consumers will have to accept limits to their demand for electricity if wind and solar energy are integrated into the supply system.

And the group claims variations in energy from wind farms will place extra stress on the power station at Pulrose, shortening its life span.

The GPMG says the Island's best option is to become a research and development centre for new technologies.
