HMS Pursuer visits Peel

by isleofman.com 14th October 2012

Peel played host to a special visitor at the weekend as a Royal Navy training vessel visited the town.

HMS Pursuer, under the command of Lieutenant Gary Bickley, stopped in port to play host to school pupils and local youth groups.

The university training ship, which used to protect nuclear submarines at Faslane in Scotland, was carrying five students who were learning about navigation, pilotage and seamanship as she cruised to North Wales for a refit.

Lieutenant Bickley explained more about his role and that of his vessel.
