Repairs could be root of damp problem - commissioner

A Malew commissioner has supported claims that work instructed by the Department of Social Care to improve insulation in houses has actually been the main cause of increased dampness.

Eddie Power said he agreed with Douglas Councillor Carol Malarkey that the DSC's move to fill cavity walls in social housing had been inadequate.

This comes after Mrs Malarkey said 130 houses in Willaston may have to be demolished if the cost of repairing damp problems is too high.

Mr Power fears the public may have to foot the repair bill:
