Celton Manx will be supporting a day of ‘frightening’ family fun at Douglas Fright Fest on Saturday 27th October.
Organised by Douglas Development Partnership, Fright Fest will make shopping scary by inviting people to dress up in their most terrifying costume and take to the streets and shops of Douglas.
Starting at 3pm in the town centre, there will be a Hop tu Naa treat trail, creepy crafts, turnip carving workshops, face painting, bone-chilling buskers and the chance to meet a life-sized dinosaur! There will also be a competition for the scariest local business where there will be a chance to win an advertising package with Manx Radio for the spookiest haunt!
At 5pm there will be a call for all goblins, ghouls and creatures of the night to creep over to Castle Street for the lantern-lit fancy dress parade which will lead to North Quay as the witching hour approaches.
The finale will take place from 5.30pm on North Quay where the fate of Ginny the Witch will be decided in a live trial along with live music, street theatre, children’s attractions, ghost walks, a fire show and the judging of the best fancy dress. There will be prizes for the scariest boy and girl under 6, 12, 18 and the scariest adult and even a reward for the most dreadful dog!
Bill Mummery, Executive Director of Celton Manx said: ‘Douglas Fright Fest is sure to be a great day of fun for all the family. With so many activities taking place around the town centre and North Quay there is something for everyone to enjoy. We are pleased to be able to support what is sure to be a very successful event in the Douglas calendar.’
Town Centre Manager Gill Anderson said: ‘We are delighted to welcome Celton Manx as sponsor of the first Douglas Fright Fest. With the great success of our recent Zombie Walks there is no doubt that this event will be spook-tacular! So all ghouls grab your masks and brooms, head into town and enjoy the eerie entertainment!’
