Gambling habits survey out later

by isleofman.com 4th October 2012

The results of the first survey into gambling habits among the Manx public will be revealed later today.

Forms were sent to 4,000 randomly-selected homes and almost half have been returned.

GamCare Isle of Man was set up last November to help problem gamblers and their families.

The charity wanted to know more about the different forms of gambling people enjoy, who takes part and how much they spend.

London-based National Centre for Social Research carried out the survey and will unveil the results at a public meeting at Keill Darree at Noble's Hospital.

Director of GamCare Thea Ozenturk says they hope to have the clearest picture yet as to how a big a problem gambling is here: (play audio)

Tonight's event at Keyll Darree starts at 6pm.

It's open to anyone interested in finding out more about the survey.
