The Attorney General and the Deputy Assessor of Income Tax have appeared in court.

Stephen Harding and Colin Goodwin were charged with a series of offences before magistrates in Douglas this morning.

Mr Harding the Attorney General faces a total of six charges, including forgery and perjury.

Mr Goodwin faces three charges, one jointly with Mr Harding, of acts against public justice.

The three forgery offences against Mr Harding relate to a file note about a telephone conversation between him and advocate Jerry Carter in 2010, which it's alleged never took place.

He's accused of falsifying a document with intent to deceive the Advocates Disciplinary Tribunal, and with Colin Goodwin conspiring to conceal a file note from the tribunal.

Mr Harding is further accused of perjury in a statement about the phone call made while sworn as a witness in the Tribunal's proceedings.

Colin Goodwin is accused of acting and conspiring against public justice, in relation to alleged falsfiying of the file note.

The two men only spoke to give their names, their age and addresses.

The only bail condition is that they do not discuss the case with any of the witnesses.

Proceedings were adjourned until November 21st.
