Deadline approaching for views about Armed Forces Community Covenant

by isleofman.com 1st October 2012

The deadline is approaching for people to submit their views about the proposed introduction of an Armed Forces Community Covenant in the Isle of Man.

The public consultation runs until 5pm on Friday, October 12 and further information can be found on the Government website at http://www.gov.im/cso/ConsultationDetail.gov?id=338.

The Covenant would be an official declaration of the Island’s recognition and support for those residents who serve, or have served, in the British Armed Forces.

The Council of Ministers is supportive of the principles behind Armed Forces Community Covenants, but wishes to gauge public feedback before developing the proposal further.

While similar Covenants have been established in the UK, the content of a Manx version would be for the Isle of Man to decide and would take into account responses to the consultation.

Submissions should be sent to Philippa Hull, Chief Secretary’s Office, Third Floor, Government Office, Bucks Road, Douglas, IM1 3PN. Email Philippa.Hull@cso.gov.im.
