Reformed Western Vikings were unable to make it two from two when they lost 27-15 to Castletown in the Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield.

Town raced into a big early lead with tries from Craig Glover, Barry Irvine (two) and conversions from Matty Quine.

Vikings hit back with tries from Paul Wheeldon, Rich Little and Tony Grundy before Mick Shipley sealed it for Town with a try and Chris Nash added a penalty for good measure.

In the other Shield game, Vagabonds B walloped Emerging Nomads 70-7 at Ballafletcher.

Ste Gawne and Andy Pease both ran in hat-tricks for Vagas with other scores coming from Jamie Cooke, Ross Jones, Mark McGreal, Floyd Askin and Joe Louw.

Skipper Michael Oates kicked three conversions and McGreal two.
