by isleofman.com 28th September 2012

Rushen Silver Band are delighted to announce that they will be holding a Gala Concert on the evening of Saturday 13th October at Castle Rushen High School, starting at 7.30pm.

The Band will be conducted by Richard Evans for the evening.  Richard is one of the most respected and charismatic conductors of the brass band world, and has recently added to his long list of honours by leading our friends at Leyland Band to victory at the Brass In Concert Championship in November 2011.

The Band are also delighted to announce that Kirsty Abbotts will be performing as Guest Soloist for the concert.  Kirsty is one of the best cornet players around at the present time, having won the Best Soloist award at the 2011 Brass In Concert Championships.  Kirsty is currently the Principal Cornet at the Chamionship Section Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band.

Proceeds from the concert will go towards the Alistair Drinkwater Memorial Fund, which has for many years supported events to help teach young people on the island to play music, and has also raised large amounts of money for various cancer charities.

Tickets £6  (£4 under 18s)
