The Lieutenant Governor is this evening hosting the investiture ceremony for three Island residents named in the Queen's Birthday Honours in June.

David Downie, Willie Kneale and Eleanor Shimmin will be presented with their awards by governor Adam Wood on behalf of the Queen at Government House.

Mr Downie receives the MBE for his 30 years pioneering work at the hyperbaric chamber, during which time he's raised almost ?2 million to keep the facility running.

Mr Kneale is to be honoured with the British Empire Medal in recognition of his commitment to ex service communities in the Island.

And there's a BEM also for Mrs Shimmin to mark her contribution to music teaching in the Island during a career lasting more than half a century.
