The Department of Social Care has issued a report detailing the findings of the consultation on the draft Regulation of Care Bill. The consultation sought comments on the draft Regulation of Care Bill which will introduce a comprehensive, robust and proportionate regulatory system for social care and non NHS care services, providing protection for care service users - many of whom are society's most vulnerable people.
The consultation closed on 25 May 2012 and received 107 written responses via the online questionnaire, email and post. Alongside the written consultation the Department held 21 stakeholders meetings which were attended by 170 individuals.
The consultation has led to further consideration of the draft Bill and as a result a number of changes have been made which are detailed in the report. The report is available at: http://www.gov.im/socialcare/ConsultationDetail.gov?id=298.
Paper copies are available by calling 685129 or from: Tynwald Library, Finch Road Douglas or Department of Social Care, Markwell House, Market Street, Douglas.
The Minister for Social Care Hon Chris Robertshaw MHK commented: “I am encouraged by the results of this consultation and the support shown for the need for regulation of our care services. My Department is now conducting a short consultation on the proposed fees to ensure businesses and individuals have the opportunity to comment and assess any potential impact to businesses. Following this I will seek Council of Ministers approval to introduce the Bill into the Branches of Tynwald.”
