The Department of Economic Development has announced that Chris Corlett, the Chief Executive for the Department of Social Care, will replace Colin Kniveton while he works on his secondment in Sark on behalf of the Isle of Man Government.

With a background in management consultancy, Chris Corlett was the Chief Executive for the former Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for seven years up until April 2010, when the DTI’s responsibilities were taken on through the creation of the Department of Economic Development formed following the restructure of Government Departments.

Minister for Economic Development, John Shimmin MHK, commented:

‘I’ve enjoyed an excellent working relationship with Colin in the twelve months that I’ve been Minister and believe that he leaves the Department in a strong position with many achievements. Colin was instrumental in leading the change required to bring together a cohesive approach to economic development for the Isle of Man and I wish him well on his mission to Sark.’

‘The significance that this Department plays in helping to stimulate economic growth at a critical time on the Island meant that we needed a strong leader to take Colin’s place and I am delighted to be able to welcome Chris, who brings with him an excellent understanding of our economic sectors as well as key management skills.’

Incoming Chief Executive, Chris Corlett, said:
