Podiums for Island race walkers

Young Island race walkers produced some great performances at the English Schools Race Walking Championships in Bedford on Saturday.

The Manx Harriers’ athletes showed their talent, led by Adam Cowin who took the runners-up spot in the senior boys five kilometre race, in a time of 25 minutes 40.93 seconds.

In the intermediate boys 5km, Alex Easton was also second (24:55.09) with Juan Bellando fourth (28:00.12).

There were also some impressive showings in the intermediate girls 3km race with Danielle Oates third in a time of 16:45.47 and Rebecca Greatbatch setting a new personal best in 18:22.64 to secure fifth place.
