Dong Energy respond to criticisms

by isleofman.com 16th September 2012

The company behind the proposed Walney Extension offshore windfarm has issued a statement in response to criticisms from the Steam Packet company.

In an exhibition at the Villa Marina last week, Dong Energy gave Island residents the chance to view the plans for a 200-turbine extension off Cumbria.

But Steam Packet Chief Executive Mark Woodward says there appeared to be no wall displays showing the adjacent Centrica/Dong additional proposed developments or diagrams showing the existing Isle of Man routes. He suggested a claim there would be no disruption to Isle of Man shipping was misleading as the Packet would be left with fewer weather-routing options.

In response, Dong has issued a statement in which they claim they always work very hard to engage with all stakeholders and have an open and transparent approach. They add that since 2010, the Walney Extension offshore wind farm has engaged with the relevant maritime users of the Irish Sea through establishing a Navigational Working Group - and this forum is continuing.
