Decision on alcohol licence for Castletown Tesco adjourned

by isleofman.com 13th September 2012

A decision on whether to grant the proposed second Tesco store in Castletown a licence to sell alcohol has been adjourned.

The supermarket giant's second application was heard in the licensing court earlier today (Thurs)

Castletown Commissioners are opposing the move on the basis that there are enough outlets selling alcohol in the town already.

A first application by the store failed in April when the court found it was not satisfied ... that there was a need for further licensed premises in the town centre.

Since then meetings have been held between Tesco representatives and local commissioners.

The court will sit again on October 15th.
