'Seized unit' causes Ben-my-Chree problems

by isleofman.com 11th September 2012

Engine problems are being blamed for the frustration of hundreds of Steam Packet passengers yesterday.

The Ben-my-Chree was less than an hour away from Heysham port when she developed technical problems.

Instead of completing the sailing, the Master decided to return to Douglas where the seized ‘unit’ on one engine was repaired.

The Heysham afternoon sailing was also cancelled as a result and passengers affected were offered a partial refund and accommodated on later sailings.
