Cav second on stage two

by isleofman.com 10th September 2012

Mark Cavendish had to settle for the runners-up spot in today’s second stage of the Tour of Britain.

Cavendish appeared to get boxed in and was unable to catch Australia's Leigh Howard in the final sprint in Cheshire.

Cavendish was led out by Team Sky team-mates Bradley Wiggins and Luke Rowe but his former HTC team-mate Howard held on after jumping clear.

Rowe retained his overall lead after finishing in the main bunch alongside Tour de France winner Wiggins.
