Another RS Tera title for Greg Kelly

by isleofman.com 10th September 2012

Greg Kelly won the RS Tera Inland Championship at Pitsford Reservoir in Northampton yesterday, having sailed a remarkably consistent series in very challenging conditions.

The reigning the RS Tera pro world champion won the first two races, was second in race two and sixth in race four, giving him a six-point lead going into yesterday's races.

He struggled for a clear start in the first race, but managed to work his way through the fleet to finish fifth.

Race six was a different story, Greg was first off the line and sailing fast, he finished third.

It was close on points at lunchtime, but Greg kept a cool head, he needed to finish in the top six in both races to win the event - which he did.

Seasoned Pro sailor Amie Shute had some mixed results with a sixth being her best, she finished in ninth place overall.

Ffinlo Wright found the light shifty conditions quite testing, he also managed a sixth in the breeze, his overall result was fifteenth.

Tony Pitt and Matt Petts had a close series with their positions changing frequently during the championship, in the end Matt finished 25th and Tony was 26th.

In the 54 boat Sport fleet Ben Batchelor worked really hard to get to grips with Inland sailing and by the end of yesterday's races he'd worked his way up the fleet to finish sixth in race seven and third in the final race of the day.

He finished tenth overall.

New squad member Patrick Cope sailed really well all weekend, in race two yesterday Patrick was up at the front and finished in third place!

Overall Patrick finished 23rd, a superb result for a first championship.

Erin Murphy also a newcomer found the light conditions tricky on Saturday, her results improved throughout the series to end with a 11th in the final race.

Overall Erin finished 35th.
