Sleepwell Hotels Look Forward to 9th Consecutive Sponsorship of End2End Challenge

by isleofman.com 7th September 2012

Sleepwell Hotels is proud to sponsor the Island’s 16th Manx End2End challenge in what constitutes the 9th consecutive year of the successful partnership. Due to take place this Sunday 9th September, the race is considered to be one of the largest and most challenging of its kind and will see around 1,700 riders from around the world ride from one end of the Island to the other, from the Point of Ayre at the Northern tip to the Calf of Mann at the Southern, whilst taking on some sizeable peaks along the way.

The 75km route incorporates over 1500metres of climbing on a variety of challenging terrains, including fast fire roads, sweeping moorland paths, country lanes and forest singletrack. Riders will experience stunning scenery, stony peaks and even stonier troughs and tremendous support from communities throughout the Island in what is swiftly becoming a staple event of the Island’s sporting season. The course is usually completed within 3 hours for the top 100 leaders and anything up to 6 hours for the more relaxed riders.

This year, the Sleepwell Hotels contributed services to the value of £30,000 towards the event, enabling organisers to provide a meeting place and central registration venue at the Claremont Hotel, a complimentary pre-race meal for all competitors, a cash contribution towards the prize fund, a winner’s silver plate trophy, subsidized room rates at all three Sleepwell Hotels and, finally, a post-race meal at the Villa Marina presentation room, in association with Coast Bar and Brasserie.

Mark Wilson, Managing Director at Sleepwell Hotels, commented on the sponsorship: “We are very pleased to continue in our sponsorship in what has become a highlight in the Island’s sporting calendar and an increasingly popular event for hundreds of our overseas visitors. Over the course of just 16 years, the event organisers have achieved tremendous success; few events of this kind can boast the same level of professionalism in their organisation or anything near the support from local communities. As such, we at Sleepwell are proud to assist in whatever way we can. I would like, once again, to convey my congratulations to the End2End team and to wish everyone the best of luck on the day.”
