The Department of Social Care has had an excellent response to the recent Housing Review Consultation. Over 800 individuals and organisations made their views heard by completing the survey or submitting their comments.
A report which provides details of the results of the consultation is available at: http://www.gov.im/socialcare/ConsultationDetail.gov?id=311
The Minister for Social Care, Hon Chris Robertshaw MHK said:
“It is very encouraging to see so many people and organisations taking the time to engage in this debate. It is clear this is an area of social policy close to people’s hearts and Government have a responsibility to the community to seek their views on the challenges the Housing Review identified.
It is important we take this opportunity to work together on shaping a sustainable housing policy and service delivery, for both now and future generations and I am pleased we have been able to raise the level of responses to the consultation to the highest on record for Government to date.”
The next steps are for the Department to work up the detail behind the range of options detailed in the consultation. Key stakeholders, including the Local Housing Authorities, Third Sector partners, Construction Industry, Tenants, etc will be involved in key policy areas and the Department will then bring the proposals before Tynwald for approval in due course.
