NI and tax fines handed out

Douglas magistrates have fined a number of individuals and businesses for income tax and national insurance offences.

18 people failed to submit income tax returns on time and were fined a total of ?6,335 with ?2,125 costs.

Seven companies failed to pay national insurance contributions and were also prosecuted.

Robert Croan formerly trading as Roberto's, Space Ventures Consulting, Wessex garage, Buck Recycling, Corlett Optometry, Si Fulton Motors and Panelcraft Insurance Repair Centre received penalty orders totalling ?68,000, fined a total of almost ?1,900 and ordered to pay a total of ?875 costs.
