Wins for Dunlop and Richardson at the MGP

by isleofman.com 31st August 2012

Michael Dunlop overcame numerous mechanical problems to win the Classic Senior race at the Manx Grand Prix this morning.

The man from Ballymoney has had a great time road racing in the Isle of Man this summer, having already picked up one TT and five Southern 100 victories.

After Russ Mountford retired at Sulby Bridge on lap three Dunlop had what appeared to be an easy ride to victory.

But issues with the bike had plagued him throughout, as he told Manx Radio TT365 afterwards: (first part of audio clip)

Mick Godfrey was second, Alan Oversby third.

Meanwhile in the Junior Post-Classic it was a tangerine dream for Blackpool's Roy Richardson, who took the tenth MGP chequered flag of his career.

Phil McGurk was second, despite real drama for his family shortly before the race: (second part of audio clip)

Brian Mateer was third.
