Kayaker and mother rescued

by isleofman.com 28th August 2012

Castletown coast guard were called to the aid of a young kayaker and her mother this afternoon.

At around 1.30pm they were alerted to a drifting kayaker and a swimmer in Derbyhaven bay.

A mum had gone into the water to try to help her daughter after she'd got into difficulties in a canoe.

The lifeboat from Port St Mary, the airport’s rib and the Steam Packet’s Manannan took part in the rescue operation.

Both were recovered safely, and other than suffering from the cold, are said to be unhurt.
