An apparent rise in the use of ketamine in the Isle of Man is a real concern, according to the director of the Drug Advice Service and Helpline.
Shelly Stanley says the drug, used primarily in veterinary medicine as a tranquiliser or anaesthetic, seems to have become more popular here in the last few months, particularly at house parties.
It also has strong psychoactive properties, causing hallucinations.
The drug can send people into a catatonic state, so is far from being a benign white powder, according to Ms Stanley: (play audio)
